39 Songs Charlie’s Angels (2000) Smacked Your B*tch Up To • Soundtrack Retrospective
Charlie’s Angels is a wild product of the cultural times, not only beating other ‘70’s TV retreads like Starsky and Hutch (2004) and Miami Vice (2006) but latching onto everything popular in cinema right then in the dawn of the millennium from the wire-work and electronic soundscape of The Matrix (1999). Even around the same time Crouching Tiger, Hidden Tiger (2000) was being made, the definition of burning bright this style was so immediately parodied in Scary Movie 2 (2001) and Goldmember (2002) that action movies were veering to the opposite spectrum with The Bourne Identity (2002).
However, we’d like to highlight just how impressive the number of cinema soundtrack staples that were practically made famous by this movie…Diving into around forty needle drops in a svelte 97-minute movie this was more akin to the needle pit in Saw 2. In a good way, though.
